You’re Invited: Celebrating San Carlos – Building Community Together

San Carlos is more than a place on a map. It is a community built by neighbors who care.

On Wednesday, April 16, 2026, the Community Foundation of San Carlos warmly invites you to join us at the Hiller Aviation Museum for our premier event of the year:

Celebrating San Carlos – Building Community Together

This special evening is a time to come together, reflect on the strength of our city, and turn our shared generosity into real local impact. We hope you will choose to spend that evening with us. Your presence truly makes a difference.

At the heart of the event is a fundraiser supporting the 21 local nonprofits funded by the Foundation for the 2025-26 cycle. These organizations are the backbone of our community. They serve our neighbors, uplift our youth, and protect the values that make San Carlos the City of Good Living.

Our nonprofit partners support San Carlos across four vital areas:

Funding Pillar What This Supports (and Examples)
Basic Needs & Mental Health Support for neighbors facing hardship, including food assistance, mental health advocacy, and compassionate care.
Examples: Caring Cupboard, St. Vincent de Paul, and NAMI
Youth & Education Programs that help young people grow in confidence and leadership, with scholarships that make participation possible for every child.
Examples: Healthy Cities Tutoring, Arbor Bay School, and San Carlos Little League
Community Caring & Sustainability Work that strengthens both people and the planet, including sustainable food gardens, environmental justice, and support for striving families.
Examples: Each Green Corner and WANDA
Arts & Culture Creative opportunities that help people feel welcome and connected, while keeping arts access open to all and uplifting diverse voices.

2026 San Carlan of the Year & Business of the Year

In addition to supporting these important programs, we will proudly honor this year’s San Carlan of the Year and Business of the Year. These individuals and businesses represent the very best of civic spirit and leadership in San Carlos. Their commitment reminds us that one person or one business truly can make a lasting difference.

This celebration is about more than awards. It is about connection. It is about gratitude. It is about ensuring our nonprofit partners have the resources they need to keep San Carlos vibrant, inclusive, and resilient for years to come.

We encourage you to invite friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Come enjoy an inspiring evening surrounded by people who believe in the power of community. If you can be anywhere that night, we hope you will choose to be with us.

Selecting the San Carlan and Business of the Year

This year’s honorees were selected through a thoughtful and careful process led by a dedicated committee of eight community members: Debbie Denton, Michael Campbell, Kyle Morrisey, Randy Rae, Tim King, Susan Kimmel, Craig Wiesner, and Andy Klein.

The committee reviewed 18 impressive nominations, including seven individuals for San Carlan of the Year and 11 local businesses for Business of the Year. After independent scoring, the committee met on February 9 to share insights and review the data together. Through open discussion focused on community impact and civic spirit, they reached a unanimous decision on this year’s honorees.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who submitted nominations. The strength and quality of the nominees show just how many inspiring leaders and businesses call San Carlos home. We have so much to celebrate.

On April 16, let us gather to honor service, support our nonprofits, and strengthen the bonds that make our city special.

We look forward to celebrating with you.
