Community Foundation of San Carlos Awards $150,000 to Local Nonprofits

The Community Foundation of San Carlos is proud to announce our 2025 grant recipients. This year, we awarded $150,000 to 21 local nonprofit organizations that are working every day to support our neighbors and strengthen our community.

Our mission is simple: when local nonprofits succeed, our whole community benefits. By funding organizations that serve people across many different needs, we help ensure that San Carlos remains a caring, connected, and inclusive place for everyone.

Responding to Urgent Challenges

This year, our Board made a focused decision to respond to growing needs in our community. With recent changes to government support programs like SNAP, many families are facing increased challenges.

To help address this, 50% of our total grant funding was directed to nonprofits focused on food security, housing support, and mental health and wellness. In addition, the Board used its discretionary funds to provide targeted spot grants to organizations working directly on food access and education.

These decisions reflect our commitment to meeting people where help is needed most.

Thank You to Our Community Grant Readers

This work would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteers. We extend our deepest thanks to the 36 community members who served as grant readers this year.

These volunteers spent many hours carefully reviewing applications, asking thoughtful questions, and helping ensure that funding decisions were fair, balanced, and community-driven. Their shared care and strong alignment gave us confidence that this year’s grants truly reflect the values and needs of San Carlos.

We are grateful for their time, judgment, and commitment to helping our neighbors.
