Community Volunteers Power Our Work

Last summer, we put out a call for grant readers — and the response was nothing short of inspiring. More than 30 community members raised their hands to participate, many bringing with them deep experience in grantmaking, nonprofit leadership, and community service.

This fall, these dedicated volunteers will work side-by-side with our Board and staff to help determine how we allocate our resources to local nonprofits. Their thoughtful reviews and recommendations will guide how the Foundation invests in organizations that meet the critical needs of our community members — whether they live, work, play, or learn here in San Carlos.

It is heartening to see so many people step forward to be part of this important process. Their time, talent, and perspective ensure that our grants reflect the values of our city: inclusivity, equity, and the shared belief that San Carlos should remain a place where everyone can thrive.

Volunteer Power Beyond Grantmaking

Grant readers are just one example of how community volunteers make the work of the Foundation possible. Nearly every part of our operations is fueled by volunteers who care about the city they call home.

From those who roll up their sleeves to support community-building events, to the neighbors who write and edit this very newsletter, to the volunteers who manage our social media — each person plays a part in keeping our mission alive and visible. Together, they amplify the stories of San Carlos and connect residents with opportunities to get involved.

Do You Know Marketing?

One area where we are especially seeking support is communications and marketing. Sharing stories of impact, keeping our community informed, and celebrating the accomplishments of our partners is a critical part of our work.

If you have skills in writing, graphic design, photography, social media, or digital marketing, we would love to hear from you. Joining our marketing team is a wonderful way to meet new people, learn more about the nonprofits serving San Carlos, and directly contribute to building a stronger, more connected community.
