September signals changes in San Carlos with more children on the streets heading to school and more kids on the fields playing soccer. For the Community Foundation, September is also a month of change.
At our September 10 Board meeting, we elected new board members and bid farewell to outgoing board members, who have devoted their time, talent and treasure to the Community Foundation. This year’s outgoing members are Michael Campbell, Jessica Yang, Sandy Kraft and Josh Zaroor.
Over the years Michael served on the Steering Committee and is among our Founding Board members; he has served as Secretary, Vice President, and President.Michael helped articulate the Foundation’s mission and vision from its first days and whatsmore, his calm leadership ensured that the Foundation remained focused and true to its mission of ensuring that San Carlos remains a community where all can thrive and all are welcome.
Jessica Yang is another one of our Board members who has worn multiple hats as a member of the Steering Committee,aFounding Board member, and as President from 2020-2022. She led the Foundation through the early years, helped spearhead the Foundations Covid Relief funding and guided the Board as it created events related to social and racial justice. She has been the mastermind behind the three murals in San Carlos: Horizon Light, Love More and Blossoms.We salute her energy, vision and commitment to making the San Carlos community a great place for all!
We also extend our deepest gratitude to other recently departed board member: Brian Best, a Steering Committee member, Founding Board Member and our formerTreasurer; Sandy Kraft, who retired after three years of leading the Grants Committee. and Josh Zaroor, who generously shared his wisdom and experience as the Board grappled with growing pains of a young organization.These individuals donated countless hours to making sure the Foundation operated smoothly and fulfilled its mission as a grant-maker and community-builder. We cannot thank them enough.
Fortunately, our community is blessed with talented and enthusiastic individuals, willing to take on leadership roles at the Foundation.This September we welcome three new Board Members:
Nadya Chuprina, Public Art Programmer, City of Palo Alto;
Max Nobes, Community Engagement & Marketing , POST, and Fellow in Public Affairs, Clifford Moss
Joy Peacock, Client & Community Relations Director for PNC Bank.
We are thrilled to have such accomplished residents join our Board as we embark on our 6th year of operations.
