Day 13:  LGBTQIAP+ 

LGBT history and gender identity has transformed and evolved over the years. Today’s challenge looks at a few ways people forced change and how communities of color are still fighting for their place within this intersectionality.  

CHALLENGES 

OPTION 1: Pronouns Day. Did you know that the 3rd Wednesday of every October is International Pronouns Day? Watch “We asked 14 trans activists how cis people can be better allies” to learn how to support our Transgender community (4mins6s). Next, read an article about why pronouns matter and then check out UCSF's LGBT Resource Center and their Pronouns Matter page.  

OPTION 2: Read: How the media covered the Stonewall Riots.  Claimed as the spark of the LGBT movement, look back at how the media focused on the incident. 

OPTION 3: A brief history of San Francisco LGBT rights.
